With the help of members of the public, The National Sterilization Project (NSP) and private veterinary practices, Durban South Community Veterinary Clinic was able to spay and neuter a number of feral cat populations. Our work stretches to local households based in Pietermaritzburg and the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands that qualify, offering these pets basic veterinary treatment and care. At this particular rural CVC, we planned to treat some 60 animals. To our surprise we treated 200 animals! Each animal received vaccinations, dewormer, Frontline tick and flea control, and treatment for those animals that presented with skin conditions and minor ailments. Other areas covered by the Durban South CVC include Pinetown, Chatsworth, Malagazi and Ambo.

Fundraising for the Durban South CVC was initially challenging and all of this is made possible due to the support from The National Sterilization Project.
