KAPS places sterilization at the top of its agenda to limit the exploding numbers of domestic animals, especially dogs, and is adamant about doing so for free. Unaware of the benefits of sterilization, animal owners in the poorer communities will never consider voluntarily spaying or neutering their pets. Many are instinctively opposed to the idea, even if they are not planning to breed. If it costs them money, it will never be done. Without sterilization the streets would be overrun with starving, mangy, unwanted dogs scavenging and making themselves a nuisance and a health risk. Thanks to the NSP, KAPS is able to hold mass sterilization clinics around the province.
